MLB history knows the New York Yankees for their World Series accomplishments with an astounding total of 27 championships. But after 2009, the Bronx is in one of its worst droughts – in 2023, the club didn’t even make it to the postseason. As usual, fans blame Brian Cashman for their troubles, whose decision-making has dearly cost the team before. The 2023 Texas Rangers are only more proof.
Roster construction is not an easy task and as far as the Bronx Bombers are concerned, the past 13 years hold testimony for it. The general manager is known for keeping unhealthy and underperforming players past their primes, while letting go of the good ones. In this case, many of them went to Texas and are now holding the Commissioner’s Trophy.

The Pinstripers’ current 13-season drought is its third-longest since changing their name to Yankees. It can be thanks to Cashman, who let go of a handful of players who are now Fall Classic champions with the Texas Rangers after their stint with the Yankees. These include Nathan Eovaldi (2015-16), Andrew Heaney (2021), Aroldis Chapman (2016-22), Jordan Montgomery (2017-22). Oh, how the tables have turned!

Given, these players were not always at their best when in the Bronx. But in the Lone Star State, they’ve suddenly blossomed into their talent. Instead of keeping these names, Brian Cashman insisted on Josh Donaldson and Aaron Hicks, and look where it landed them.
Eovaldi, Heaney, Chapman, and Montgomery are currently playing with the Texas Rangers, who just defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks for a historic World Series trophy. They brought their A-game on the field, enabling Texas to clinch the ultimate baseball title in the best-of-seven game series against the Snakes.
Cashman, meanwhile, is working on building the Yankees to the best of his abilities.

The Bombers’ roster lacks impact players and it is reflected in their trajectory over the years. Given that ex-Yankees are delivering spectacular performances, especially leading Rangers to victory in the 2023 World Series, it is only adding fuel to the fire. Brian Cashman called the current season? ?a disaster? and ?an embarrassment? for the Yankees a few weeks ago, but what is he doing to improve?
Fans and critics are questioning the Yankees? status quo under Cashman, yet again contesting his decision-making process. The Yankees had a bad opening this season led them to their disqualification from the playoffs.

Before the 2024 season approaches, it is the need of the hour for Cashman to evaluate and learn from past mistakes. The Yankees need a solid breakthrough to dissolve the streak of losses and prove themselves once again. A thirteen year drought is too much for any team to handle.
