Aaron Judge has spent the entirety of his career thus far in the Bronx. The New York Yankees’ captain has grown attached to the city in various ways. Shortly before his injury against the Dodgers, Judge picked New York over Los Angeles in a culinary showdown. But Dodgers star Mookie Betts disgusted the Yankees’ star after he snubbed LA for New York. 

Judge reaffirmed his loyalty to the city and the Yankees organization this year by signing a new contract. But the $360 million star went into specifics during this interview before his injury. Furthermore, he stood firm with his choice even after Betts grossed him out. 

Mookie Betts offered a gross rat story after Aaron Judge picked New York over LA!

Hours before his severe toe injury, an episode of “On Base with Mookie Betts” was released featuring Aaron Judge. The Yankees’ captain offered his thoughts on various topics and shared some stories. During this interview, Judge picked New York over LA when asked which place had better food. He said you could go to a different site every night and enjoy a great meal. After this, Mookie Betts agreed with him but shared a gross story about rats in New York. 

During the episode, Betts said, “And half the time, there’s rats running right in front of the door, and you go in and it’s just, the food is just magnificent.” He further said, “All them nights walking in New York and I see the trash right there, and I smell the feces in the air. You know what I’m saying? From the sewers. I know I’m getting me a good meal tonight.” But this didn’t dissuade Judge.

The food in New York is too good to miss for Aaron Judge. Reflecting the same in his response to the Betts rat-related anecdote, he said that the rats add a sense of authenticity to the experience. The Yankees’ captain stayed loyal to the Yankees’ city and picked their food. But when answering another question during this interview, he picked LA.

Judge believes LA is a better place to live than New York!

Although Aaron Judge picked New York for the food, he prefers LA as a place to live. During the episode with Mookie Betts, he explained his choice. In New York, there’s no place to escape the city life. But in LA, he can escape by going into the hills and getting lost over there. Furthermore, he preferred the weather in the city of Angels over that of the Bronx.
