Aaron Judge has been the best thing that happened to the New York Yankees after Derek Jeter’s retirement. Considering his decorated career, it is almost impossible to replace what Jeter achieved with the Pinstripes. But Judge is the only person who has come close to his legacy.
Even though unlike Jeter, Aaron Judge is yet to win any championship, the Yankees slugger carries a similar mentality to the former Yankees captain. Back in 2017, Aaron Judge had nothing but respect for Derek Jeter
Even though Aaron Judge made his MLB debut in the 2016 season, he had his breakout season in 2017. It was the best season in Judge’s career until he smacked 57 home runs this year.
Knowing that Jeter had praised him for his wonderful outings, Judge also appreciated the former captain. However, when it came down to comparison, the Yankees slugger preferred the best Judge rather than the next Derek Jeter.
“It’s a great compliment. You know, there’s only one Derek Jeter. I am just trying to go out here and be the best Aaron Judge I can be… You know It’s a great comment. I appreciate it. Being in the same sentence as someone like Derek Jeter, it’s quite humbling,” Judge said in 2017.
