The 2023 season has fulfilled the expectations of many teams except for the New York Yankees. Currently, last in the AL East, their playoff hopes hang by a thin wire, under a lot of stress because of repeated failures. Even Aaron Judge’s return has failed to ignite positive results. As nothing worked for them, everyone predicted the Yankees to make a move in the transfer market. But they did nothing like it, which raised many questions.

The Yankees GM Brian Cashman, responsible for the squad buildup, tried to answer these questions. He justified the inaction with claims of nonavailability. As his response came after he hinted about signing an offensive player, it disappointed fans. Reacting to the entire episode, fans have shared their dejection in the open.

Brian Cashman Justifies Inaction as the Yankees Fail to Make of the Trade Window

The Yankees had a disastrous first half filled with injuries and out-of-touch players. The inconsistency on the team hampered them a lot, and it was very much in the open that they were looking for additions. But the same has not transpired, and the trade deadline has ended with no new signing. It was shocking for the Yankees supporters, who questioned the lack of intent. Brian Cashman, who faced the flack for it, now has shared his thoughts on the entire case.

Yankees insider Bryan Hoch on Cashman’s account wrote, “Cashman: I’m sure some people out there say tear it down and sell, and other people are out there saying to add something big. There wasn’t a big thing to add, to be quite honest, that was going to solve the immediate problems that we had.”

It further added, “In terms of the selling stuff, there’s certainly a lot of players here that are talented, that playoff teams would like to get their hands on. But in terms of trying to pry that away from us, it wasn’t really worth it. It was like, I’d rather just keep it and take a shot.”

The response pointed toward the dilemma the Yankees have been in since the start of the season. At one stage, looking for trades, and at the second not going for it. Fans who have raised their concern added their thoughts to it.

Fans Claimed the Management Has No Clue

Though Yankees fans have not liked the response from Cashman, given the team had all the opportunity of signing players, as other teams did, fans have questioned the intent.

They blamed Cashman for making the situation complicated and adding to the team’s struggles.

Fans question why Cashman is still the GM.
