In the baseball world, speculations and predictions are part of an endless trip. While sometimes a few predictions eventually come true, for others, the outcome remains unexpected. This is the case with the Boston Red Sox this year. Following a disastrous 2023 season, they have started planning for next year with a preliminary meeting. While several issues were highlighted, the upcoming free agency plans were also discussed. An MLB insider recently shared a surprising statement that he claimed was the decision of the Red Sox.

Since free agency is almost knocking at the door, teams are preparing their list of players that they will approach. The Red Sox are also eyeing players that they want for the 2024 season. However, amidst these, Boston fans were shocked post the recent John Henry’s “philosophically skittish” stand.

Renowned MLB insider Sean McAdam recently shared information on the Red Sox’s Shohei Ohtani chase. According to him, the team is not at all eyeing the 21st-century Babe Ruth. He stated the team had their preliminary meeting last month, and “Ohtani was not at all a focus.” Of course, McAdam explained the reasons the team canceled the Ohtani race, as he stated that “principal owner John Henry remains philosophically skittish over the prospect of the kind of lengthy mega-deals (that it would take to land Ohtani.)?

The scenario was different a few months ago when another MLB insider reported about it. Peter Gammons reported in an NL Executive account this mid-September that the Sho-time would probably like to join the Red Sox.

Also, the team already has a DH, Masataka Yoshida, and the team is planning on investing in pitching. In that case, he stated, Ohtani can be the best choice when he is fit. But that will probably be possible in 2025, as Sho-time can’t pitch in 2024.

However, with the latest piece of update, fans hope to have the “player of a generation” shattered.
