New York Yankees may not be at the top of their division yet, but they’re certainly starting to stand up to their reputation. With a stellar 2022 performance that led them to the ALCS, the 2023 season had similar expectations. But with a rather slow start and third place in the AL West, fans were disappointed. However, the Bronx team just won their fifth straight game by defeating the Baltimore Orioles, and fans are finally at peace.
When the 2023 season started, Josh Donaldson was announced to be on the injured list. Then it was announced that Donaldson’s return would be delayed due to a bizarre situation. However, Boone recently gave a positive update on the third baseman, the Yankees fans, instead of welcoming Donaldson, they expressed their displeasure.

Before heading to the IL with a hamstring injury, Donaldson played five games where he slashed .125/.176/.313. In the previous season, with 62 RBIs and 15 home runs, Donaldson batted .222/.308/.374. Not only that, but the 37-year-old had the lowest hitting percentage too – 75.5% of all pitches he swung at in the strike zone. Needless to say, fans didn’t want him in the Bronx anymore.
Josh Donaldson will be an everyday player once he returns, Aaron Boone said.

But Bryan Hoch of MLB.com recently tweeted an update from the Yankees’ manager. “Josh Donaldson will be an everyday player once he returns, Aaron Boone said,” Hoch’s tweet read.
Interestingly, Donaldson did manage to break a franchise record in 2022 when he hit an ultimate walk-off grand slam. The only other Yankees to have done it are Babe Ruth and Jason Giambi, and only 32 such hits exist in league history. Yet, nothing could convince fans of Donaldson’s talent, who are unhappy with this new update.
New York Yankees fans are furious at the front office
The Bronx Bombers are famous but their fans are perhaps even better known in MLB – loyal to the core, they don’t stand for mediocrity in players. And they clearly don’t want to see Donaldson in pinstripes any longer.
The worst news I’ve heard today!

That's what he said. Let's see what he does. I think Donaldson may never see the field again this year.

One fan joked that the third baseman could take as much time as he needed to recover.

One thought the only reason Boone had for keeping Donaldson on the team was because he was being blackmailed.
I don’t know what blackmail material he has on Boone, but it must be good.

Most just want him gone.
Can this team please stop guaranteeing playing time to players that under perform and have big salaries? Make these guys EARN the playing time. He's done absolutely nothing with the bat. Let him work his way back to getting more playing time when he's finally healthy.
