Known for his two-way playing style, Shohei Ohtani is probably the biggest star in Major League Baseball. The LA Angels player has been dominating MLB from both ends over the last couple of years. At a time when baseball is losing its craze among fans, Ohtani is probably the best thing to happen to this game.
A dynamic force from the mound and a hitting machine from the plate, Shohei Ohtani, is the Rolls-Royce of Major League Baseball. What is more remarkable about Ohtani is that he is equally good at pitching and hitting, something even the MLB legend Babe Ruth failed to achieve.

But here is the crucial question. Which version of Shohei Ohtani is better? Ohtani the pitcher or Ohtani the hitter? Well, to answer this question, the Japanese star ended the debate. If talking about Ohtani’s last season’s performance, the Angels star had his breakthrough year. Though the LA Angels failed to win big in the 2021 season, the Angels star won the American League MVP, only because of his two-way playing style.
Shohei Ohtani picks Ohtani the pitcher
In the ongoing MLB season, Shohei Ohtani’s pitching version has been more intimidating than the hitter. It is only the first half of the season, and Ohtani already has 123 strikeouts from the mound, while he had only 156 strikeouts in his MVP-winning season. It is enough to tell his pitching has been a lot better than the last season.
And the Angels star also has the same opinion. Recently, when Ben Verlander asked Ohtani to pick between his two versions, the Angels star did not hesitate and picked the pitcher Ohtani over the hitter Ohtani.
“If you are talking about this year, the pitcher Ohtani wins. Because he can throw the splitter and the batter has no shot,” Shohei Ohtani said via his translator.

Apart from his unique playing style, Ohtani’s appearance at the All-Star Game has become a new thing. Per a report from a Japanese daily, famous fashion brand Hugo Boss had provided the custom-made dress to the Angels star. Notably, he has been the face of the company for over two years.
