Will Alex Rodriguez get to join the NBA anytime soon? Well, as per his recent social media post that went viral, chances are scarce. Although he loves basketball, he might not be the best at it. A-Rod’s latest Instagram video features him missing several basketball shots. The clip quickly went viral and gained a lot of fan attention and comments in no time.

A-Rod is currently enjoying his family time in Paris. Although he is there for his birthday, being a sportsman and a fan himself, how could he miss out on the Paris Olympics? While enjoying the 2024 Games on Tuesday, Alex Rodriguez posted a video on Instagram where he tried his hand at basketball. In the viral clip, he could be seen attempting three-pointers, but he missed the target each time. Nonetheless, he was able to catch the love and attention of his fans, who came together to embrace the moment and cheer for their favorite baseball player, playfully calling him Air Rod and more.

A-Rod planning to join the Olympics in 2028?

In his recent Instagram video, A-Rod humorously showcased his basketball skills, or rather his attempt at the sport. Despite missing the shots, he used the moment to playfully acknowledge his shortcomings and the fact that he isn’t that good at the sports he loves so dearly. “Sad to announce, Unfortunately, I was not selected for the 2024 Olympic basketball team…,” his post read. The caption read “LA 2028?!?! 🇺🇸 #olympics”, jokingly hinting at the fact that he might come stronger and better for the next Olympic, set to be held in Los Angeles in 2028.

Entertaining us for 22 years as a baseball legend, Alex Rodriguez has now taken over social media to make sure his fans are not missing out on him. His post currently has more than 400 comments, 13k plus likes, and 500 plus shares. Even after being one of the greatest players of baseball, the 49-year-old New York Yankees legend always had a soft spot for basketball. He has also noted that growing up, his favorite sportsman was Michael Jordan. Although he was never able to pursue the sport professionally, his love for basketball was one of the reasons he bought the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The legendary Yankee has done it all in baseball from winning the World Series to hitting 696 home runs. However, more than that, it’s his undying love for sports that makes A-Rod such a loved figure across different sports.
 
 “Lol! You’re still a star”. Another fan took a more lighthearted approach with this remark, Even though Alex retired from baseball 8 years ago. His vibrant and humorous social media presence keeps him in the spotlight. This is proof that the star knows how to stay relevant among fans, even if it’s through sweet satire.

After retiring, he bought the Minnesota Timberwolves, combining his love for basketball with his sports ownership. As the owner of the T-Wolves Rodriguez has overseen a historical high for the team. From multiple playoffs to a star-studded squad, A-Rod’s contribution has been immense. Perhaps that’s why despite controversies he’s known as the ‘People’s Owner’ by the fans. 

In another comment, a humorous follower said “Air Rod,” playfully referencing his basketball attempts.  Although Minnesota Timberwolves owner, may not make the cut for the Olympics, but two stunning players from his team Anthony Edwards and Ruby Gobert have secured their place in the semi-finals. “but will one of them go on to be an Olympic gold medalist? That is still to be seen but looking at Rodriguez, the excitement is palpable.

Lastly, one comment sums it up: “Can’t be a GOAT at everything, my king.” Even after retiring, he’s still seen as one of baseball’s greatest.
