While the National League Championship Series already started, the American League waited for the Guardians and Yankees’ decider game to reach a result. Finally, it did and former Yankees captain Derek Jeter displayed his overjoyed emotions through a tweet.

After a rollercoaster season, the Yanks finally made their way through to the Division Series. And after reaching the Division Series, the Guardians proved that they wouldn’t be a simple walkover. After acting as tough competition till the final game, the 27-time World Champion team emerged victorious and qualified for the Championship Series.

Captain Clutch celebrates the Pinstripes ALCS entry

Five-time World Champion and former Yankee captain Derek Jeter reached his Twitter handle to congratulate the 2022 Pinstripes after they beat the Cleveland Guardians in the final deciding game of the ALDS. The Yankees became the last team to qualify.

Derek Jeter, on his Twitter handle, said, “On to Houston!”

In the last ten years, since 2012, the Yanks have reached two Championship Series’, in 2017 and 2019. However, in both years, they played the Houston Astros and lost to them. Once again in 2022, the Yanks will take on the Astros in a seven-match ALCS series starting tomorrow in Houston. Will the Yankees beat their Astros curse? Time will tell.

New York Yankees with Derek Jeter

Back in 1995, Jeter made his MLB debut in Pinstripes. Since then, the shortstop, through the Bronx Bombers, has achieved great heights. However, it arguably wasn’t the five World Championship Rings or the multiple Division and Pennant Titles that made Jeter so popular amongst the masses. While the world championships helped, the way Jeter carried himself and his team by displaying a sense of invincibility possibly resonated the most with Yankee fans.

Derek Jeter retired as one of the greatest shortstops to play the game in 2014 with his name in history books. And analogous to the legacy Jeter left behind, in 2017, the Yankee front office retired their former captain’s jersey number two, and added his name to Monument Park.
