New York Mets have emerged as one of the best teams this season. Under the guidance of visionary manager Buck Showalter, the Mets have defied all the odds to become a World Series favorite this year.
Two things have been the most consistent for the Mets this season. One is their consistent performance, and the other one is their batters keep getting hit by the pitches, game after game. The consistency is so much that the Mets are the only team to face 100 hit-by-pitches in the ballparks this year.

Recently, the New York Mets played a four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Although they swept the Pirates, the Mets hitter Pete Alonso suffered another hit-by-pitch. And following the tradition of major league games, benches cleared on both sides after the hit-by-pitch incident.
New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso did not get the intended sympathy
The video of the entire incident is still doing rounds on the internet. One can see how the Pirates pitcher Luis Oviedo hit Pete Alonso on his arm. And immediately, the benches cleared on both sides. However, no player on either side got involved in something violent.
Even though the New York Mets star Alonso suffered the hit-by-pitch, he did not get sympathy from MLB fans. Taking to Twitter, the fans instead took shots at him.
“Yes, the Pittsburgh Pirates are hitting you on purpose Pete,” one MLB fan taunted Alonso after the benches cleared.
