“The King is back,” said the entire baseball world after Mike Trout’s latest social media post. While the entire country celebrated the 4th of July, the Los Angeles Angels’ superstar found a peculiar way to wish his fans. However, behind that wish lay a message that fans recognized. It’s a message that may have turned heads all around the league. Is it really the time for a comeback by King Fish?
Earlier in the week, Trout said he hoped to return by the end of July. That sent quite a few fans to dreamland. Coincidentally, the Angels were on a minor roll then, so it made things rather interesting. But since then, the Halos have fallen again and so it has become even more important for Trout to return soon. And his latest Instagram Video has just given a hint of just how close the superstar is to a return.
As fireworks spread across the 4th of July, Trout also gave fans a reason to celebrate. In his Instagram post, the star was seen swinging at a baseball tee. His impeccable swing demonstrated the progress of his rehab. Skipper Ron Washington revealed on July 4th that Trout had started running on a regular treadmill. Now Trout has provided evidence of his recovery to the fans.

Mike Trout has been sidelined since April due to a torn meniscus. Although his return was initially expected in June, the unexpectedly slow recovery has delayed it until the end of July. Despite his absence from the field, Trout has remained a significant presence in the clubhouse of the struggling Los Angeles Angels, who currently stand at 36-50, making a playoff finish seem unlikely.
But one hopes that Trout’s presence will at least increase the Halos’ consistency. However, until then, the fans couldn’t help but celebrate the return of the 3x MVP.

A tiny glimpse of Mike Trout is enough to send fans into a frenzy. This video’s effect was no different as fans began celebrating the star’s impending return. “My mans…I just need you to get us a wild card spot,” said a fan. That’s something that nearly every Angels fan hopes to see. The team hasn’t qualified for the playoffs since 2014 and that has had a hugely demoralizing effect on the fanbase. However, a wildcard presence isn’t an easy task especially because the Halos are currently 11 games behind that spot.

“Become a Phillie,” asked a Philadelphia Phillies fan. Trout’s alleged fandom for the Phillies has always been the talk of the town. That is one of the reasons why every year, there’s always at least some chatter of King Fish moving to the City of Brotherly Love. However, that hasn’t happened yet, mostly because of his “loyalty” to the Los Angeles Angels.
“Mike is All-Star team as far as I’m concerned,” said another fan. After 11 consecutive All-Star selections, 2024 proved to be the one where Mike Trout finally failed to make it into the team. With stars like Aaron Judge going ahead of him and his own injury, the Millville Meteor won’t be exploding in the All-Star game this year.
“All the swing gurus now making mechanics vids about this for the next week,” noted an Angels faithful. That isn’t something outside of the realm of possibility. After all, hitters like Trout, Barry Bonds, and Aaron Judge have always fascinated hitting coaches. Their style and balance are something that young players try to recreate and this video could help with that.

“Mike please be the coach of the LA Angels,” requested a fan. That’s a unique perspective, especially since Trout is still an active player. However, with the Halos’ hitting staff not performing up to par, it’s understandable why the fanbase might be open to some desperate measures. Whether Trout would embrace such a role remains up for debate.
As of now, Mike Trout is officially hitting baseballs again. How long before he does that in a packed stadium? Could the superstar surprise fans by returning before the end of July? That would certainly create an exciting situation.
