Did David Fry's walk-off homer just shift the momentum in favor of the Guardians?

In the tenth inning, David Fry took center stage. With one mighty swing, he crushed a walk-off home run, securing a dramatic 7-5 victory for the Guardians over the New York Yankees. The Yankees still lead the series 2-1, but the Guardians showed they are not ready to give up just yet. During a thrilling Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, the Cleveland Guardians were on the brink of elimination, facing one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Jhonkensy Noel stepped to the plate and delivered a stunning two-run homer, tying the game at 5-5 and sending it into extra innings. Just one inning later, Brayan Rocchio made a savvy move, laying down a perfect bunt to get a runner into scoring position. But the real magic happened when Fry stepped up. He reminded everyone why he’s an All-Star, launching a stunning walk-off homer into the left-field bleachers!

Guardians catcher Austin Hedges remarked on Fry saying, “David Fry, the guy is built different. He’s got ice water in his veins, and once again, no moment’s too big for him.” Despite the chatter outside after dropping the first two games in New York, the Guardians’ clubhouse stayed calm and collected.

Everyone knew the key was to return to their signature “Guards Ball” style of play. Offensively, the Guardians were firing on all cylinders – they stole bases, manufactured runs, and had more walks than strikeouts—just the way they like to play. On the pitching side, Matthew Boyd delivered a solid five-inning start. This allowed Cleveland to bring in their stellar “Big Four” relievers: Hunter Gaddis, Cade Smith, Tim Herrin, and Emmanuel Clase. With that kind of depth on the mound, they were ready to secure a much-needed victory!

Two colossal homers turn the tide for the Cleveland Guardians

Thanks to a dramatic ninth-inning, game-tying two-run homer by Jhonkensy Noel, the Guardians clawed their way back. Then, just an inning later, David Fry stepped up and delivered another clutch two-run shot, sealing a thrilling 7-5 victory in 10 innings over the New York Yankees in Game 3 at Progressive Field.

What’s your perspective on:

Did David Fry's walk-off homer just shift the momentum in favor of the Guardians?

Have an interesting take?

All this drama unfolded just one inning after Yankee slugger Aaron Judge hit a game-tying homer followed by a go-ahead shot off Cleveland closer Emmanuel Clase, who had given up only two home runs all season. But it didn’t faze the Guardians. Noel’s blast not only erased Clase’s rough inning but also wiped away a frustrating ninth-inning misplay where they botched a rundown, allowing an insurance run to score.

The Guardians will wake up Friday morning with renewed hope in the AL Championship Series, especially after being just one out away from what could have been a daunting 3-0 deficit. Instead, the Yankees now lead the series 2-1, and while their pitching depth still looks promising for them, this series just got a whole lot more exciting. The Guardians are very much alive and ready to battle.
