Trump is a longtime fan of the New York Yankees and he was especially fond of The Captain during his playing days. But Trump once expressed disappointment in Derek Jeter for something he did.
Trump got upset when Derek Jeter sold his Trump Tower apartment
Donald Trump was a huge fan of Jeter until the Yankee shortstop sold his Trump World Tower apartment in October 2012. This reportedly made the billionaire upset with Jeter and resulted in him tweeting about the incident. In a tweet Trump said, “Derek Jeter had a great career until 3 days ago when he sold his apartment at Trump World Tower- I told him not to sell- karma?”
Trump tweeted this a few days after the sale was confirmed. And he timed the tweet perfectly at a time when Jeter was suffering. Trump’s tweet came at a time when the Yankee star had just broken his ankle and his team were knocked out of the 2012 postseason as a result of it.
This made Trump’s tweet seem all the more plausible as Jeter had experienced a lot of success while owning the Trump Tower apartment. But Jeter did not react to the tweet and went ahead with the sale.

Jeter originally bought the apartment in 2001 for around $12.72 million. And in 2012, he sold it for $15.5 million, which was less than the $20million that he’d asked for it. But Jeter did make a considerable profit when he sold the apartment.
Why did Jeter sell his Trump Tower apartment?
According to reports, Jeter wanted to move into a smaller apartment and maintain the mansion that he owned in Tampa Bay.
