The Randy Wilkins-directed docuseries tell the story of how Derek Jeter became a brand in baseball. In the seven-episode docuseries, Jeter has opened up about many known and unknown aspects of his personal and professional life.

Recently, after the release of Jeter’s documentary ‘The Captain.’ Randy Wilkins—the director of the ESPN-produced docuseries—opened up about how Jeter’s personality surprised him while they were filming ‘The Captain.’

Wilkins said that there is a whole different version of Derek Jeter. Apart from being charming and loving, the former Yankees captain is also a very intense guy. Something that only a few people are aware of.

“You see the smile, you see him joking around, you see him having fun and all this other stuff. But right underneath that is an edge that you can’t really pick up unless you’re around him. He’s charming. He’s engaging, but he’s really intense,” Randy Wilkins said to Joon Lee of ESPN. “That’s something that, getting into it, I didn’t realize, but it was very clear that’s a strong part of his personality.”

Notably, it is not a surprise that Derek Jeter has a different yet strong side of his personality. During his playing days, he never allowed his personal life to blend with his professional career.
