New York Yankees are a revered franchise in Major League Baseball. Being one of the oldest baseball teams to exist, the Pinstripes enjoy a dedicated fanbase. But the other side of the coin also exists. Given their prestige and status, not everyone loves them. Whatever their reasons, many would like to see other MLB teams or players take them down. And Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is probably one of them, who never shies away from dishing the Yanks.
The first baseman is as talented as his father and has been racking up a storm ever since he started playing in the major leagues. With a reputation for being one of the best hitters in the sport, Guerrero Jr. is a force on the diamond. But another thing he’s known for is his feelings toward the Yankees, as well as defeating them.

When it comes to famous rivalries in baseball, the Yankees vs Boston Red Sox are usually at the top. But with Vlad coming in, the enmity between the Bronx Bombers and the Toronto Blue Jays is heating up. In the 2023 season, the players in pinstripes were close to making history yet again. Having a long undefeated series streak made fans extremely happy, but the Toronto team just dashed their hopes. And more yet, they enjoyed doing it, apparently.

The Blue Jays won against the Yankees, 5-1, with a crushing blow made by the Canadian-Dominican player. The Bronx crowd booed him as he stepped off the plate, kissing his wrists. But Guerrero was apparently unconcerned and even reveled in the moment.
He has commented before on his dislike of the Pinstripes and how deep it goes. “I like to play in New York, I like to kill the Yankees. I would never sign with the Yankees, not even dead,” were his famous words. But the Yankees disapprove of him equally.
How did baseball fans react to the Jays player taking the reactions in stride?
The Blue Jays’ official Twitter page posted a clip of their DH with a famous Reggie Jackson quote, “Fans don’t boo nobodies.” And while that may be true, Guerrero is not a popular figure in New York.
Most people on Twitter pointed out that Yankee fans boo their own players worse than other teams, so perhaps the Blue Jays player getting the same treatment isn’t special.

And expectedly, baseball Twitter praised Guerrero’s performance.

Some pointed out the recent fan treatment Aaron Hicks has been getting, trying to prove the post’s caption wrong.
