New York Yankees achieved immense success during the late 90s and early 2000s. The combo of Derek Jeter, the leader, and Joe Torre, the skipper, worked so well for the Pinstripes that they went on to play six World Series in the span of eight years.
However, regardless of how successful one becomes, there will be a time, one will start falling from their peak. The same happened with the former Yankees manager Joe Torre. Despite winning four World Series titles for the Pinstripes, Torre did not have a good ending in his last years in the Bronx.

Earlier in 2009, on the release of his book, ‘The Yankees Years,’ Torre got candid about how tough it was to be the Yankees’ manager. Being the biggest MLB franchise, the Yankees have always been the most demanding clubhouse in MLB. And that is what Torre probably lacked during his last years with the Yankees.
When the former Yankees manager Joe Torre opened up about his differences with the organization
Per an exclusive interview with News Week, the then-Yankees manager, Joe Torre, expressed his differences with the Pinstripes organization. Torre revealed he was always on the edge while managing the American League side.
“Unfortunately, the bottom line is what it’s all about—that’s the way things are done in New York. I may have become overly sensitive about it. But when you shake it all out and look at it from the outside, that’s pretty much where you lived as a member of the Yankees—you always lived on the edge,” Torre said in 2009.

Notably, after winning four World Series in five years, Torre also lost two World Series in the 2001 and 2003 seasons. And in 2007, the Yankees had to force him out of the organization.
When this interview came out in Jan 2009, little did Torre know the Yankees would go on to win the World Series in the same year. Notably, the Derek Jeter-led team defeated the Philadelphia Phillies to lift the 27th World Series title for the Pinstripes.

The then-Yankees slugger, Alex Rodriguez, played an instrumental role in winning the title. Since then, the Yankees have not win the prestigious title.
