Thanks to his remarkable performance and an even better personality, Derek Jeter became a household name in the USA. A New York Yankees icon, the former Captain is more or less synonymous with the sport. An excellent player with a winning mentality, he led the Bronx Bombers with a zeal that was unlike most players. The stadiums were full of roars, fans cheering for him, while his teammates treated him with the utmost respect. But while Jeter and baseball go hand in hand, he was recently linked to another sport.

Ever since he retired from MLB in 2014, Jeter has kept up with baseball in one way or another. Previously the operations at the Miami Marlins, he recently featured on the special edition of MLB The Show and is now a FOX Sports analyst. But in a recent post that went viral on Twitter, Jeter has now made it to the ice hockey world!

The New York Rangers had a game against the New Jersey Devils today, and the Devils handed a 2-1 defeat to the Rangers. But what caught fans’ attention was an audience member walking up to the game in a unique jersey. It wasn’t just any piece of clothing, but a Rangers jersey that said ‘Jeter‘ at the back! The iconic #2 was also stamped below it.

Alongside the fan was another person, walking in a Ryan Reaves jersey. Reaves played for the Rangers during the 2022 season but was traded to the Minnesota Wild. Even so, Twitter couldn’t help but mock the clothing choice of these fans.

But some weren’t happy.

Some hockey fans were furious at the number two – it was the jersey number of NHL legend Brian Leetch when he played with the Rangers. And was actually retired in 2008.

Some referred to the iconic era of Arson Judge and fans wearing a Giants-Judge jersey to a Yankees game. One fan even took to Photoshopping a picture.

While some appreciated the effort and loved the jersey.

Ultimately, most Leetch fans were unhappy, but some thought it was a rather decent move!
