Is walking Aaron Judge a sign of respect or just a cowardly move by opposing teams?

At this point, who wouldn’t be intimidated by the Yankees’ captain’s dominance? Well, Tyler Glasnow isn’t. During a chat on ‘Chris Rose Sports’, he confidently claimed he could take on anyone. Moreover, Glasnow also expressed his disapproval of the recent trend where pitchers walk the batters regardless of their skills. He’s not a fan of this strategy and firmly believes in his approach, saying, “I think the mentality while I’m pitching is like, I can get anybody out.”

While Glasnow’s confidence is admirable and powerful, even elite hitters do not hit at every ball. They fail most of the time. However, a compelling case should be made for intentionally walking a batter, especially when it’s someone like the Yankees’ captain. With the kind of season Judge is having, he is nearing his single-season home run record of 62. With possibly setting another new American League record, intentionally walking him might seem like a smart strategy for opposing teams. However, for Tyler Glasnow, this approach is a bit of a tough sell. But that doesn’t mean Tyler is underestimating the Yankees’ star player.

In the same chat, he admitted, Aaron Judge is arguably the best hitter in the league.” While others might fear Judge’s power, Tyler sees it differently. He plans to use that challenge to fuel his performance, saying, “If I were pitching, it would make me mad.” It’s no surprise he feels this way—Glasnow has a history with Judge from his time with the Tampa Bay Rays, who are in the Yankees’ AL East division.

Having faced Judge many times before, Tyler Glasnow doesn’t fear him like other pitchers might. Instead, he understands Judge’s game deeply, and that familiarity only sharpens his competitive edge. While Glasnow’s confidence and competitive spirit are admirable, they don’t change the fact that he’s currently facing his own challenges.

After giving a very solid debut with the Dodgers, going 9-6 with a 3.49 ERA over 22 starts, Glasnow has now found himself on the injured list with elbow tendonitis. And while this isn’t his first stint on the injury list, it’s definitely the first time this season that he has been sidelined because of an arm injury. And starting this Friday, he will be out for 15 days.

Have an interesting take?

Well, don’t get disheartened, Dodgers fans. The Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts, has good news for you. The good news is that he has confirmed the MRI showed no damage to Glasnow’s elbow. He will definitely come back after his  15-day recovery period. But that also means he won’t be able to pitch against the St Louis Cardinals. According to Robert, he was very eager to start this Saturday, but the team isn’t taking any chances with his health. So, who will pitch this Saturday? Well, to fill his place, the Dodgers have called up Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he’ll be taking on the Cardinals.
