June 18 is the day when the entire world celebrates Father’s Day. While MLB is midway through its regular season, almost all MLB teams and players celebrated this special day in their own way. However, the Atlanta Braves decided to do things the other way. The Braves management took a bold decision about their team’s roster, blatantly disrespecting their infielder Charlie Culberson and his father at the same time.

Moments after the news of the father-son duo getting disdained went up on the internet, it became the talk of the MLB town. The news then made the baseball fans furious over Culberson senior and junior getting mistreated.

Ahead of the Braves’ final game of a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies, one of their catchers, Sean Murphy had to stay out of the final game. It was because he had an issue with his hamstring. However, with him out of the game, the Braves needed a catcher in the game. Hence, they recalled their catcher, Chadwick Tromp, to the roster. But for this to make possible, the team had to send one of their players down.

Therefore, to call Tromp back to the roster, they designated their infielder Charlie Culberson for assignment. Before the Braves made this move, Culberson’s father was supposed to throw the first pitch. But as they sent their infielder down for assignment, they stopped Culberson’s father from throwing the ceremonial pitch. Instead, the opportunity was then given to Michael Harris II’s dad.

The Braves could have waited a day before sending Culberson for assignment. Or even if they had to send him down, they didn’t have to take the honor of throwing the first pitch from his father. Anyway, this move by the Braves organization did not sit well with the baseball fans at all. Notably, it made them ferocious for Culberson and his father.

Taking to Instagram, the fans did not hold back in expressing their feelings about Culberson getting sent down for the assignment. While a few of the fans gave a rational reason for why the Braves did what they did, most of them are not happy with the franchise at all.

Hence, they wrote, “That’s f*cked up”, “We’re playing pretty well. Could we not have waited until Monday?”, “Braves are clowns for this”, and “@braves very classless for this. What an organization L. So what’d you tell his dad on Father’s Day.”

The fans who had a rational reply to all this wrote, “Yall are on here crying like they did this to spite Charlie.”, and “Strictly business.”
