Shohei Ohtani has done it again. The Japanese phenomenon is on the warpath to becoming the greatest baseball player ever. His two-way skills behind a ball and a bat have long been evident, but at 28 years old, Ohtani is in his prime. 2023 is a year unlike any, as he keeps breaking and setting new records that haven’t been touched in decades. A much sought-after player ahead of his upcoming free agency, Sho-time will undoubtedly break more records with a new contract. Most MLB analysts have predicted it to be around a ballpark of at least $500 million, something teammate Mike Trout agrees with.

Since Aaron Judge went on the IL, Ohtani has quickly climbed the home run list. Although he lost the spot once or twice, the Los Angeles Angels superstar is back on the list. And this time, he has more mind-blowing stats to add.

With as many visible achievements as Ohtani has, it would be impossible to underestimate his talent. However, some still label him ‘overrated‘; a recent instance of that would be when the Angels set a new franchise record against the Rockies. The Halos won 25-1, one of those rare days when Sho-time didn’t contribute much. However, at the latest match-up vs. the Chicago White Sox, Shohei Ohtani proved why he’s being called better than the Babe Ruth.

It was the second walk-off win of the season for the LA team, aided by Mike Trout scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth. He added a second run to the first, scored by Ohtani, who blasted his 26th long ball of the season in the fourth inning. It was a Statcast-projected 446 feet. The Japanese player was tied with Atlanta’s Matt Olson for a while, but he’s again in possession of the leading title.

Not only that, but Ohtani also leads the league with 62 runs batted in with the current best OPS in all of MLB. Is it any wonder that even non-Angels fans are rallying for an MVP award?

Baseball fans are in awe of Sho-time!

As if his hitting prowess isn’t enough, Ohtani, with a ball in his hand, is also a force to be reckoned with. When FOX Sports posted the stats on Twitter, some fans couldn’t believe a pitcher was leading the MLB home run chart and went as far as labeling it fake.

Some want him to get the crown of MVP.
