Pop star Mariah Carey, who also happens to be an ex-girlfriend of Derek Jeter, has been trending on the internet yet again. Being a global music icon, Carey is often in the news. But this time, she has hogged the limelight for another reason. Carey has recently sent out a clue to her large base of followers about permanently departing from Twitter.

Jeter and Carey dated for a brief period, but their relationship remained an eternally memorable experience of Carey’s life. Back when they started dating, Carey was already a pop sensation, whereas Jeter was building his Hall Of Fame baseball legacy. Carey even paid tribute to their romance with a couple of songs. Their linkup created a buzz in the media during the short-lived period. 

Nonetheless, in the present-day context, Carey has famously joined a list of Twitter users discontented with the site. The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, recently bought Twitter after finalizing a $44 billion deal. Soon after the takeover, Musk introduced a new set of rules for the social network platform. Consequently, many users have opposed the plans, while some former employees have even resigned from their posts at the firm.

How did the fans react to Mariah Carey’s revelation? 

Understandably, Mariah Carey has got a massive fan following across her social network handles. So her sudden statement of cutting ties with Twitter has seemingly disappointed most of her fans. Elon Musk’s decision to charge verified Twitter users $8 per month has sparked outrage among netizens. Therefore, Carey might as well have displayed her take on the issue. 

Carey made a post on her official Twitter account using a GIF image of herself with the words, “K bye…”
