What more can someone expect from a father who leaves no stone unturned to commemorate his daughter’s wellbeing? Well, Jake Burger, the Texas Rangers’ star, has done it for his daughter, who had a successful open heart surgery on Monday. But there’s something more that happened.

Jake Burger hit his first home run with the Texas Rangers on February 27, which led the team to their 8-0 win. However, something that’s more special was Burger wearing his four-month-old daughter Penelope’s hospital band, which might have been a lucky charm for him. However, all’s well that ends well—is what Burger may be thinking right now. Isn’t it?

Definitely, given that Burger not only managed to hit home run for the first time with the Texas Rangers, but also he got his daughter back from the jaws of defeat. So, what happened was that Burger’s four-month-old Penelope was born with Down syndrome on October 25. Even though the surgery was avoided at that time while she was at the NICU, an open heart surgery was recommended by the doctors in the later stages. But rightly said—In the midst of darkness, light persists—and that’s when there was a beam of hope for Burger.

Even though operating on such a young child was complicated, everything went smoothly. It also turned out to be a life-changing moment for Jake Burger. Not only did he wear number 21 in his first game to honor Penelope and others with such genetic conditions, but the first baseman also hit the first home run with his daughter’s hospital band on his wrist.

But what makes him special is his sheer talent. Burger had an impressive record with his former team, the Miami Marlins, and he would like to replicate the same magic with his new team too. Right?

Texas Rangers’ new star looks to make a massive contribution this year

Jake Burger was acquired by the Texas Rangers back in December 2024 in exchange for Max Acosta, Brayan Mendoza, and Echedry Vargas. He had a good season with the Miami Marlins, where he had a .250 batting average with 76 RBIs and 29 home runs. Even though Burger is set to earn $800,000 this season and is eligible for Arbitration 1 in 2026, he will undoubtedly try to make a big impression in Texas’ game against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. But that’s not all!
