What Terry Francona thought to be a nail-biting faceoff between the Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers turned into a debacle. The Cincinnati Reds displayed a flop show as they couldn’t score a single run in the 7th inning. And it’s quite evident that the Reds’ manager was not happy at all. However, he prescribed a solution that’s far from good, rather unusual to a larger extent.
The Cincinnati Reds have had a dismal performance this season. In the previous four games, they didn’t score any runs three consecutive times and then scored only two runs. The lack of prominent batters in the team is to blame for their losses. They currently have only two players with .700 OPS or above, including Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz. Otherwise, the rest of the batters don’t even have something above .600 OPS.
With the Cincinnati Reds facing a major slump in scoring runs, the first-year manager asked for a human sacrifice that might solve their batting woes. Well, Terry Francona must be joking, right? Of course, he is! That’s his own way of talking. Terry Francona has always been known for his wits and humorous take. So, given that the Cincinnati Reds are having a disastrous season, failing to put runs on the board, Francona made such a statement.

Although he didn’t mince any words about how they look at the struggles the team is facing, his unconventional idea definitely raised a lot of eyebrows. Based on an X post by the Reds beat writer, Gordon Wittenmyer, “We were going to have a human sacrifice but nobody volunteered,” Francona was quoted saying. What he meant by it sounds like performing a human sacrifice might turn the fate of the Reds.
Reds mgr Terry Francona on solving scoring woes:
“We were going to have a human sacrifice but nobody volunteered.”

Gee, we wonder why no one volunteered! On a lighter note, Terry Francona jokingly said it.
The bad offense is a worrying sign for the Cincinnati Reds, and there’s little to do in order to make a great comeback. Meanwhile, their manager is now back after missing the previous game owing to “intestinal turmoil,” according to him. He will look to get things back under control and ensure that the Reds find winning ways soon. Think that’s possible?

Terry Francona looks to turn things back with his return
Terry Francona, is finally back with the team after missing the previous game due to some health issues. Although he hasn’t recovered fully yet, Francona said, “I don’t think I’ve been 100% since 1988. I feel good enough to be here. It’s not a good feeling, not being here.” That’s good news, as his presence and valuable advice bring a lot to the table. On the other hand, the Reds ultimately defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 11–7. However, Francona is looking to make some changes to the lineup.

Despite no injuries in the lineup, Matt McLain was recently sidelined at the last moment owing to a left hamstring. Francona confirmed that the Reds wouldn’t play him until he made a full recovery. His choice seems to indicate that he cared about the players. And now, he would like to focus on how the Reds went without scoring for the 6 2/3 innings, ending with just two runs in the eighth inning. It was one of the longest scoreless innings that happened with the Reds since 1946. It’s definitely a problem with the Cincinnati Reds, which Terry Francona would like to address as quickly as possible.
