Born in New Jersey, Derek Jeter eventually moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan with his family. He started playing professional college baseball there, until 1992, when he entered his name into the MLB draft.

Captain Clutch grew up as a die-hard New York Yankees fan. However, in 1992, the Yanks were selecting sixth and Jeter could’ve ended up anywhere. To his good luck, it was his dream team, the Pinstripes, who signed him for $800,000.

You’ll forever have my respect. If you’re ever in my neck of the woods, I’d love to sit down for dinner. I have a Groupon for Red Lobster where $40 gets you $80 worth the scampi. Let me know as these things expire.”

To Peyton’s final comment about the Groupon coupon, Jeter responded by saying, “He’s always been cheap.”
