Anthony Rizzo has finally done it! After playing in the big leagues for 13 seasons, the New York Yankees slugger is a seasoned veteran. But even the best of the best goes through career slumps, and Rizzo just faced his worst one yet. But finally, at long last, the home run drought has ended, although one wouldn’t know it looking at the dugout.

Aided by Rizzo, the Bronx Bombers look to make a comeback. Although the return of Aaron Judge is much awaited, baseball fans still want to see better production from the rest of the team. With the latest series sweep against the Kansas City Royals, the club is at least moving in the right direction. Yet, when Rizzo looked to them for a celebration, he was met with a strange sight.

There is no one happier than a teammate when a player performs well and the same went for the Yankees. Rizzo had not hit a home run since May 20th and was barely keeping up his slugging percentage. Everyone wanted a win for him, so when he finally blasted a long ball toward the short porch in the right field at Yankee Stadium, the crowd erupted in cheers.

The first baseman, looking extremely hyped after running the bases after a long while, returned to his dugout. Looking at his team for high fives, though, he was met with disappointment. The entire dugout looked calm and composed, focused on the game, with Rizzo smiling bewilderedly. As Michael Kay rightly points out, “He doesn’t know what’s going on.”

Just as he reaches the last players, everyone shouts and crowds him with hugs and cheers. Pitcher Domingo German even throws seeds at him, grinning from ear to ear!

Baseball Fans Love This Display of Brotherhood

The end of the drought meant a lot to the fans as well as the Yankees slugger, who just could not stop smiling. Although his teammates heckled him for a bit, having some fun, Bronx fans were all for it.

Some pointed out how Rizzo never drops the grin on his face, never mind his teammates.

Some seemed to have dissolved into tears at the sight, although they were probably out of happiness.

Let’s hope the team keeps it up before Judge comes back. The Yankees are up against their NY rivals, the Mets next, who have been nothing short of disappointing this season. Maybe the Bronx can take back the victory after losing the Subway Series last time.
