No one knows a person better than the one who saw them grow. This time around, the person in question is none other than the New York Yankees’ DH Giancarlo Stanton, formerly known as Mike Stanton. And the person who watched him grow would be the talented comedian and actor Jimmy Tatro.

Most recently, Tatro revealed a hidden power of Stanton, which, if he had followed, could have changed the course of his entire baseball career. Even imagining watching Stanton doing something other than playing the ballgame!

Tatro, in his recent interview, revealed that he went to the same high school as Mike Stanton. About that time, Jimmy spoke of watching Stanton play football and being sure that he would go pro in the NFL, either as a receiver or as a punter.

However, his words changed when he spoke of watching Stanton play basketball. Then, he thought of Mike going pro in the NBA. But then came the climax, and he saw the actual Stanton playing baseball. About Jimmy watching Giancarlo play ball, he said, “I saw him hit a baseball like he would hit them, into the football field to the 50-yard line of the football field. It wasn’t fair when he would connect in high school. He was a grown man amongst boys in high school.”

How has Mike Stanton done in baseball?

Since Stanton’s MLB debut in June 2010 for the Miami Marlins (formerly Florida Marlins), he has proved himself to be a great player at 33 years old. And now, after over a decade in the big league, Stanton has been an All-Star five times, became NL MVP in 2017, and has many other accolades to his name.

In MLB’s 2023 season, Stanton has had 52 at-bats, scoring four home runs with 11 RBI. Stanton’s journey in the regular season came to a halt when a hamstring injury stopped him from doing his job on the plate.
