The 2022 MLB season was an exciting few months, where baseball fans got to see some fantastic plays and even better players. Aaron Judge was named the American League Most Valuable Player after he broke the single-season home run record, previously held by Roger Maris. A relative newcomer, Shohei Ohtani, broke the legendary Babe Ruth’s record and set one of his own.
It was thrilling to watch the trajectory of the players go up and down and how the crowds responded to it. If someone were to list the top 10 players right now, everyone would have different choices. And as such, a recent listing on Twitter has fans in a frenzy over the top picks.

While Mike Trout is somewhat of a known name in the baseball world, Shohei Ohtani is still a newcomer. However, the Angels phenom took the MLB world by storm last year after he displayed his talent on both sides of the ball. Given his talents, it was only natural that he would be placed among the top 10 players right now, as posted by B/R Walk-off on Twitter. But some fans were still surprised because Ohtani didn’t quite make it to the postseason.

It was a similar case with the pitcher’s teammate, Mike Trout. Both players are currently signed on to the Los Angeles Angels, who haven’t made it to the postseason since 2014. Trout is one of the most outstanding young players in MLB history, as he has already been selected first in an All-MLB draft three times so far. However, the Angels have not been lucky for quite some time now, and it was a surprise to see the two players’ names in the top 2.
Despite some support for the list, fans are outraged at the names
There were some major names missing from the B/R list, and baseball fans erupted in indignation. While some wanted to include their own favorite players, some didn’t like how the current players were ranked. Ohtani has mostly been well-received by baseball lovers. But even after being called a ‘unicorn’ of the sport, not everyone considers him top material.
Wow, where to start. Ok, so the NL MVP isn't on here, which is dumb anyways, but HIS TEAMMATE, as well as 5 OTHER NL PLAYERS are on this list. Soto batted like .230 and somehow he's better than the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth in the NL MVP race, gotcha…
