Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez had an epic baseball career. During his playing days, he was a masterclass in the art of batting and fielding. There is yet another skillful string in his bow of creativity, unknown to the larger audience. That skill happens to be ‘Poetry’. 

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez is a legendary baseball icon symbolic of the New York Yankees jersey. Some of the most eventful years of Rodriguez’s career came within the Yankees’ frame. Most memorable of all was winning the World Series championship in 2009 as a Yankee. He also played for the Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers. ‘A-Rod’ is a 14-time All-Star member. 

Since his playing days, ‘A-Rod’ has had a dramatic life, both on and off the field. His meteoric rise to stardom wasn’t a smooth journey. ‘A-Rod’ once got involved in the infamous, Biogenesis scandal, that shook MLB to its core. Consequently, the marquee player got penalized with a suspension. 

Alex Rodriguez: Poetry as a medium of self-defense 

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez is a member of an infamous elite club of extraordinarily talented yet disgraced baseball players. ‘A-Rod’ created a playing legacy with records worthy of a Hall Of Fame induction. But like many others before him, the steroid scandal acts as a barrier to his eligibility. This means he has little to no chances of receiving Cooperstown honors. 

‘A-Rod’ was a beloved figure in the baseball community with a far-extending outreach. That was until the drug bust in 2013, followed by an immediate suspension. Matters went down south for ‘A-Rod’ from then onwards, as he got banned for the entire 2014 MLB season. 

Rodriguez’s legacy soon fell into disrepute. But he was not t to sit back and silently await the end of his suspension. ‘A-Rod’ fought back by filing a lawsuit against the MLB administration. He accused to authorities of trying to ruin his career.

One of his public statements was rather poetic in nature and read as such, “Stood by myself, it is sad, gross, the house of horrors, forced to walk through. Faith, and will, are not legitimate. I am deeply troubled, this fight, working hard, never treated, not true. I am disappointed, the story. My story. My energy, every day, each and every day, a part of it, every day. Protect me. Vindicate me. The day to come.” 

The life post-retirement for the poetic athlete 

‘A-Rod’ pulled down the curtains on his sporting theater in 2016. He now works as a broadcaster, analyst, and entrepreneur. ‘A-Rod’ is also a caring single father to two daughters.
