New York Mets are the MLB franchise that has recently surpassed everyone else in terms of signing. Earlier this month, they already had some heads rolling with announcements over their estimated payroll. The Mets’ $400 million projected payroll has even beaten financial behemoths like the New York Yankees. Keeping track of their insane signing spree, the father of a Mets fan accidentally injured himself in an ecstatic moment.

The Mets’ billionaire owner, Steve Cohen, is currently a man on a mission. Cohen will even fit the world into his team if needed. He seems hell-bent on creating a result-oriented World Series champion team and will stop at nothing. Therefore, Cohen has already bolstered the Mets’ roster, strengthening the offense and defense on all fronts.

As per common knowledge, the Mets had a dominant performance in the MLB regular season this year. But an awkward slip towards the seasonal ending snatched their zonal crown. Consequently, the Mets had to ultimately contest in the wildcard round. But a shocking defeat at the hands of the San Diego Padres had sent the Mets packing.

But for an ambitious man like Cohen, the only way to move forward is by looking ahead. So he made every preparation to forget the past season’s woes. While losing out on Jacob deGrom, the Mets signed Justin Verlander and NPB superstar Kodai Senga. They have also re-signed their star outfielder, Brandon Nimmo. But most importantly, the Mets grabbed headlines across the MLB universe by finally landing Carlos Correa

Following all the extravagant news circulating around the Mets, the father of an ardent Mets supporter mistakenly hurt himself. The Mets fan posted about the incident on his Twitter account quoting, “Listen to my dad on WFAN this morning after he broke his wrist tripping trying to let me and my brother know the Mets signed Correa. So happy he doesn’t feel a thing! He thanks Steven A. Cohen for doing anything to help the Mets win.”

Interestingly, Carlos Correa signed a 13-year $350 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. But as he failed the medical test, his Giants introductory press meet ultimately got postponed. However, neither the Mets nor Correa had the time to wait. So both parties agreed to a 12-year $315 million contract deal.

What did Steve Cohen say about the Carlos Correa deal?

Speaking to the New York Post after signing Correa, Cohen said, “We needed one more thing, and this is it. This was important… This puts us over the top. This is a good team. I hope it’s a good team! This really makes a big difference. I felt like our pitching was in good shape. We needed one more hitter. This puts us over the top.”
