It’s been almost three years since billionaire Steve Cohen bought the National League’s New York Mets. From the moment the deal went through, Cohen has spent hundreds of millions to completely overturn the team’s reputation. Even during the 2022 off-season, Cohen spent almost half a billion dollars to make the Mets an even stronger team. However, this year has been extra special for every team in the league because of some significant changes proposed by MLB, such as a pitch clock.

Another change would be MLB teams striking up deals with multiple brands to have their logos on the jersey. It is the first time that it’s been happening in MLB, and Cohen is already up in the works to make changes that suit his team and its fans.

However, soon as the owner realized this, he announced that an agreement was already in place to alter the new uniform patch. As per the Mets’ owner, “They’re Phillie colors… it should be more Met appropriate.”

Shortly after this news hit Twitter, fans started to give out their opinions on this new agreement. As many agreed with Cohen, others started bashing him for announcing this change after already striking a deal with the old patch.

How are fans reacting to Cohen’s update on the Mets?

New York Yankees’ cross-town rivals, the Mets, are among some of the teams that have announced their collaborations to put patches on their jersey’s arms. Almost every team has collaborated with a brand or for a cause, and the Mets have collaborated with the New York-Presbyterian Hospital to promote healthy lifestyles. It’s the first time in the Mets’ 61 years of history that they are putting a patch on their jerseys. Notably, Cohen wants it the right way. Hence, as soon as he realized his mistake, he tried to change it.

Following are some of the fans’ reactions to the announcement made by Cohen.
