The 2022 MLB regular season was quite eventful for several reasons. With Aaron Judge breaking the American League home-run record, baseball fans also got to see prime Albert Pujols in his retirement year.

It is no secret that Pujols had already confirmed his retirement after the 2022 MLB season. The St. Louis Cardinals legend has hit the final nail in the coffin to finally bid farewell to the game of baseball.

Albert Pujols officially signed his retirement papers after a resurgent final year

When the 2022 regular season started, no one expected Albert Pujols to go berserk. But the Cardinals legend went all guns blazing while playing in his retirement year. Notably, Pujols become the only 4th player in MLB history to hit 700 or more home runs in the game.

And given his dominant form from the plate, it seemed like Pujols might continue to entertain for one more year. But now, the 2-time World Series champ has will not play professionally anymore.

Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com tweeted that Albert Pujols has officially signed his retirement papers with the Cardinals. Taking to Twitter, a veteran journalist confirmed the same.

“For those wondering whether Albert Pujols’ amazing second half might tempt him to return in 2023, he officially signed his retirement papers with the Cardinals today, per source,” Feinsand tweeted.

Doesn’t Pujols deserve more respect and recognition in the baseball world?

Not that anyone disrespects Pujols for anything; but the Cardinals legend does not get the same respect as Babe Ruth, Hanry Aaron, Derek Jeter, and more such players.

With two championships, 3 MVPs, one NLCS MVP, and several other accolades in his name, Pujols has won everything that any baseball player can dream of. And if things do not go south, he will also get into the Hall of Fame in the next few years.
