Looks like Shohei Ohtani has finally sealed his relationship with the City of Angels. Yes, the two-way phenom had already become an LA icon due to his signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he still didn’t have a permanent residence – a place to call home. But that situation has now changed as the Japanese superstar just bought a beautiful mansion in La Canada Flintridge, a small city in Los Angeles County, California.

Since moving to the Dodgers, Ohtani has been in search of a home. However, after months of looking, it seems his heart was set on the gorgeous 7,327 square feet home. Per the Los Angeles Times, the mansion was previously owned by the comedian Adam Carolla, who bought it for $7.327 million in 2018. So what made him sell it? According to Mansion Global, the comedian was looking to sell the place after he divorced his wife, Lynette Paradise.

Initially priced at $8.99 million, Carolla had to cut it to $8.35 million in October. However, even that price didn’t fetch him a sale as Ohtani’s deal was finalized at $7.85 million. Though this is over a million less than the original listing price, it still remains one of the priciest sales in the foothill community of La Canada Flintridge. According to Carolla, the property is flush with state-of-the-art amenities.

A 2013 construction, the three-story mansion sits on nearly an acre of land. A wonderful combination of stone, glass, and wood under skylights gives its interior a midcentury vibe. Including a movie theatre, sauna, gym, and basketball court, the house comes with a huge list of entertainment options. But how long will the commute be between this home and the Dodger Stadium? A grand total of just 20 minutes.

So it looks like Ohtani’s great run is continuing on and off the field. Though the initial hiccup of Ippei Mizuhara’s scandal did spoil the mood, the superstar has been able to escape that negativity rather swiftly.

Shohei Ohtani’s easy adjustment within the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse is a great case study. Despite his superstardom and that clubhouse’s star-studded team, Ohtani’s humility and the Blue Crew’s welcoming spirit have fostered an endearing partnership. From ‘Shotime’ getting pranked to being called one of the funniest men on the team, the Dodgers have fallen in love with Ohtani.

The two-way phenom too is paying them back with extraordinary on-field performances. In his first 50 games of 2024, Ohtani averaged .354 with 13 home runs and 13 stolen bases. Throughout the entire history of baseball, only four other players have managed to put together similar numbers in their first 50 games of the season. They were – Mookie Betts (2018), Brian Roberts (2005), Larry Walker (1997), and Willie Mays (1958).

The latter two are Hall-of-Famer and Betts is almost on the way. That explains the kind of class that Shohei Ohtani is in. And now that he has a home in LA – this partnership is stronger than ever before.
