In the realm of sports, permanence is a rarity, particularly when it comes to the ever-changing sentiments of fans. While the fans who are presently cheering for a player may not do the same when the player performs poorly or swings between the teams. However, the Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa probably never really imagined this situation until Sunday night. The second game between the Twins and the Houston Astros showed that Correa’s efforts for his former team did not win him the favor of Astros fans.
The Twins are on their dream run this season. After 2004, they had not achieved victory in playoff games, but the 2023 season marks a departure from that trend. With back-to-back playoff wins, their ALDS journey started with disappointment. However, with Carlos Correa on the team, they soon made a comeback, making the series 1-1.

The best-of-five ALDS series, Game 1, broke the playoff-winning streak of the Twins. While fans were anxious about the team’s defeat in Game 1, Correa came to the rescue. After witnessing the team’s failure in Game 1, Carlos Correa was back at Minute Maid Park in Game 2, glaring. With his three hits and three RBIs, he had snatched the game from his former team, leading the Twins to a 6-2 victory. With that, he even gave a brilliant answer to the Astros fans.

Since the Astros vs. the Twins series started, the former Astros shortstop has been suffering through the boos from the Astros fans every time he stepped on the plate. Despite spending seven seasons with the team and contributing to the 2017 World Series, the star shortstop received hateful treatment from the fans. While he couldn’t answer it in the first game, he returned with his answer in the second. The shortstop shut everyone up with his smashing hits and RBIs.
While the victory was enough to respond to the rival fans, Correa proved that he took all this normally without any grudges. During the post-game interview, he expressed, “After everything I did for the (Astros)?organization, that’s in the past”. Showing his positive attitude, the player further stated, “Now like I’ve moved forward they’ve moved forward as well. I understand it. They want their team to win & they want me to strike out every time. It’s totally normal.”

Though the Twins’ shortstop dimmed everyone else’s shine, there were more who contributed to the victory.
