Derek Jeter has demonstrated a commitment to supporting the community. The 5x World Series champion established his Turn 2 Foundation back in 1996 as a rookie. Inspired by his father, Jeter wanted to focus on helping youngsters turn from unhealthy lifestyles to healthier ones. Since then, the foundation has organized more than its fair share of events to help.

The Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament is the most famous. Jeter invites celebrities from all walks of life to play golf to raise money. Another occasion where the former captain puts his leadership skills to good use is teaching them to others.

Derek Jeter’s Leadership Summit is a Huge Success

The former Yankee recently hosted The Jeter’s Leaders Leadership Conference for America’s youth who want to inspire change. Presented by Goldman Sachs and hosted by Jeter’s Leaders, the meeting provided valuable information to youngsters facing their unique problems today.

One of the panel discussions included popular musician Breland, who thanked Jeter for his invite. “Thank you @derekjeter and @jeterturn2 for the opportunity to speak to these talented young people and jump in on your backpack drive🙏🏾” he shared in an Instagram post while adding pictures from the conference. Then he added a nugget of personal information.

“Crazy that it brought me back to Atlanta on the 3 year anniversary of my moving from ATL to Nashville. Excited to see what year 4 in Nash holds and to have more moments like this ⚾️.”

The retired Yankee re-shared the post to his Instagram story, while his sister and President of Turn 2, Sharlee Jeter, also expressed her gratitude. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You changed so many lives with your presence!” she wrote in a comment.

Interestingly, the event came soon after Jeter made headlines in the soccer world.

No one understands the level of dedication to a sport more than a fellow athlete. So when Lionel Messi made a Major League Soccer appearance at DRV PNK Stadium in Florida, Jeter was in attendance. He also heaped praise on Lionel Messi’s skills and expressed his excitement at watching him play. The former Yankee attended the event with David Beckham, a soccer legend.
