Carlos Rodon is set to be among the Yankees’ starting pitchers this upcoming season. With more than a decade-long drought of World Series titles, the Pinstripes fans are hoping their new ace to shake things up. The left-handed pitcher is known for his fast and powerful balls that attracted the Yankees to him in the first place. Having played for the Chicago White Sox and San Francisco Giants, Rodon has made a mostly positive impression in MLB.
When he opted out of his second year with the Giants and became a free agent, several MLB franchises lined up left and right to add him to their roster. But he ultimately chose the Pinstripes to lend his talent to. On Dec. 21, 2022, the Yankees signed Rodon for $162 million for six years. And according to Rodon, he’s only too happy to be here. Recently, while addressing the media, the 30-year-old also alluded to his old team the SF Giants, quietly dissing their fans.

Rodon recently made his first appearance as an official Pinstripe at a Yankees’ press conference, where he navigated the reporters with perfect ease, unlike some others. For the unversed, Randy Johnson had a small stint in the Bronx and punched a reporter at his first press conference. Bob Klapisch at NJ.com wrote about the disaster while simultaneously praising Rodon for his communication skills.
Talking about the passionate fanbase of one of the oldest baseball teams in the world, Rodon said, “There was just something about the Yankees. The fans here want to win. They care. They care a lot. Giants fans are invested, but not like New York. Win or lose, you’re not getting booed in San Francisco.”

The East Coast is gearing up for another season that it hopes will not end in more failures. Rodon gets it because he wants to win his first-ever World Series with the Yankees.
What do fans think of Rodon’s comments on the Yankees?
The pitcher took a gamble, calling out not only the Giants but Yankees fans in a public manner. No one would expect them to take the criticism sitting down, which, if the comments are anything to go by, they didn’t. But surprisingly or perhaps not- some people rejoiced that there is finally someone who gets them.

😭😭 this is going to upset all the other fanbases that cried about Yankee fans booing.. Judge re-signed with the fanbase that booed him. And now Rodon flew all the way across the country to join a team because of how passionate their fans are

This should be the only kind of mentally allowed when playing for the Yankees. Comfortable is not an option
