The New York Mets game on Monday night had some star attractions. The Mets opened up their home series against the Chicago Cubs. Citi Field had some famous presence in the gallery. The familiar faces were actors Tim Robbins and Gaten Matarazzo.  

The New York Mets are having a great tournament this year. They have restructured a powerhouse lineup both in the attack and defense departments. The Mets are presently the top-ranked team in the National League East zonal standings. 

Celebrity artists attending sporting events is nothing new. Many artists on that note happen to be sports fanatics. They often attend games to cheer for their teams. On top of that, Gaten Matarazzo and Tim Robbins are renowned Mets fans.

The Mets continued their seasonal campaign with the series opener against the Cubs on Monday. It was the first of a three-game series between the teams at Citi Field. The live cameras caught hold of two celebrity supporters of the Mets. 

The first was actor Gaten Matarazzo, who was talking to a girl in a Mets jersey. Matarazzo rose to stardom while acting in the popular Netflix series, ‘Stranger Things.’ Next was legendary veteran actor Tim Robbins, a devoted Mets fan. Robbins famously played the fictional character of a pitcher named ‘Ebby Calvin Nuke Laloosh’ in the film, ‘Bull Durham.’ 

One of the commentators got heard on the video saying, “Some famous Mets fans on hand. Gaten Matarazzo from ‘Stranger Things’ is here. Nuke Laloosh is here. That would be Tim Robbins.”

The game, however, did not have a happy ending for the Mets fans on Monday. The visiting team went on to win the first game of the series. The Cubs defeated the Mets by a 5-2 margin. The Mets’ offense was largely ineffective and failed overall. 

The road ahead for the two teams 

Despite a defeat on Monday night, the Mets are still on top of the National League East zone. The Mets now have one of the best chances of representing their league in the World Series. While the Cubs are sitting at the third spot in the National League Central zone. The Cubs have had a below-par seasonal outing this year and so have no chances of title contention.
