It was a night to remember. As Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF played against Orlando City SC on Wednesday night, DVR PNK Stadium was alight with cheering crowds. And watching them from the stands were two sports icons – Derek Jeter, former Yankees captain, and David Beckham, soccer legend.

When it is about Messi, one does not have to be a sports fan to know the soccer legend. Currently, he’s gracing the American stage for the Leagues Cup tournament as the MLS season returns later this month. But before that, he treated Captain Clutch to his first soccer game.

Derek Jeter Revels In Watching Messi at His First Soccer Game With Hannah

For a sports icon like Derek Jeter, his first-ever soccer game saw him in attendance for another legend taking the field. Although rain delayed the much-awaited moment, it was worth the wait. Messi scored twice against Orlando and entertained the stadium with a spectacular display, cementing his reputation as one of the best. Jeter was certainly excited, who attended the game with his wife Hannah Jeter.

He posted photos from the event on Instagram, clearly excited to watch the Argentine player because no one understands the hard work that goes into professional sports better than a fellow athlete. Jeter simply captioned it, “My first soccer game!” 

“I think everyone is obviously excited with Messi here,” the Hall of Famer said in an interview with Apple TV+. “You know arguably one of the greatest players to ever play and there’s a lot of excitement. He’s the talk of the town and I’m just looking forward to getting a chance to watch him play.”

Jeter also caught up with Inter-Miami co-owner David Beckham, as well as singer-songwriter Marc Anthony. Interestingly, the musician was once married to singer Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez‘s ex-fiancee. Everyone knows the story of Jeter and Rodriguez of course, so it was a bizarre moment of worlds colliding! Incidentally, A-Rod also commented fire emojis on Jeter’s post.
