Baseball is a game that brings people together. This fact was proved earlier last year when a baseball game brought the estranged former couple, i.e., the Queen of Latin music Shakira and Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique, together in one place. The former couple, after staying together for over a decade, announced their separation via Shakira’s PR team. 

The reason behind their breakup was the athlete’s infidelity toward his girlfriend. The ex-couple shares two boys together, Milan and Sasha. Despite their personal issues with each other, they are good parents to both their boys. And little did they know that in the end, one of their boys would become the reason for them to be in the same place together. Their bond with Czech Republic baseball recently resurfaced amid the ongoing World Baseball Classic chaos. 

How did baseball bring Shakira and Pique together?

Being the son of an athlete, interest in sports would be natural for the ex-couple’s son. However, their elder son, Milan (10-year-old), is more interested in baseball than the game his father plays. And one of his little league games took place in the Czech Republic last year.

Therefore, the two of them traveled to the Czech Republic to watch their son, Milan, nine at the time, play. However, the two of them kept their distance from each other and did not speak at all. 

But it was baseball and their son who brought the two of them together. Shakira and Pique both were going through a tough time, and it wouldn’t have been easy being in the same place. 

What is the ex-couple up to nowadays?

Almost a year of her infamous breakup, the Colombian singer has released two songs about her relationship falling out with the Barcelona star. Not only this but in one of her songs, the singer also dropped the name of the woman Pique was allegedly cheating on her with. 

A couple of weeks after she dropped the name, the athlete made his relationship official with that woman, Clara Chia Marti, by posting a picture with her on his official Instagram handle. Since then, the singer has talked about women not supporting other women. Also, the ex-couple has also reached a custody agreement for both their boys.
