It’s time to free up the birds from the Bronx. The 2023 season for the New York Yankees fell short of expectations as they ended the season in September. The World Series has now concluded with the title in the hands of the Texas Rangers, officially marking the beginning of the offseason. This raises the question: Who is saying goodbye to the Yankees?
As contracts end and players become free agents, the club will be pursuing talent unlike what happened in 2022. From the names no longer associated with the Pinstripers, does anyone have a chance of staying?

The New York Yankees are now preparing to step into the offseason. Amid pursuing Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto, they have internal options to resign. As MLB insider Bryan Hoch revealed, the free agent list includes Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Zach McAllister, Keynan Middleton, Frankie Montas, Wandy Peralta, Luis Severino, and Luke Weaver.
Now that the World Series is over, the following #Yankees have become free agents:

The first name, IKF, had a rocky season as a utility player. Failing to grab consistent fan attention, Kiner-Falefa’s misfortunes began when he lost to Anthony Volpe for shortstop. Later in the summer, he played well as a super-utility player but was ultimately taken off the regular roster.
Another name leaving the Yanks is Zach McAllister. The 35-year-old player has a remarkable journey in baseball and with the Yankees. But, changes are needed for better results. RHP Keynan Middleton is also drawing trade interest from several teams. Another right-hander, Frankie Montas’ contract also ends this season; injuries left him unable to play for the majority of 2023 but he may be an interesting option for many.
One name the Yankees may be interested in keeping is Wandy Peralta, but Luis Severino is probably in trouble. After a career-worst performance, it’s doubtful he will be offered a new contract. The Yankees may finally move on from underperformers. However, who can fill the gaps in this puzzle?

Shohei Ohtani may look like a long shot for the Yankees right now given the heavy competition they will certainly face. But San Diego Padres star performer Juan Soto is also now a free agent, a slugger that the Bombers have long had their eye on.

Imagine a starting lineup that includes Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. The 25-year-old could be a good fit for the Yankees given his performance these last few years, even if the Friars have suffered.
