Ever since the Boston Red Sox traded Mookie Betts five years ago, the fans still haven’t been over it. Now, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mookie has won the World Series and has been a favorite among many on the West Coast. He now expressed his sincere gratitude to the Dodgers’ front office, who made it possible, and going forward, the team is looking to win another season as well.

Mookie Betts had a great 2024 season. His batting average was 289, and he had 130 hits, 19 home runs, 75 RBIs, and 75 runs scored across the 116 games he played. He even won the Silver Slugger Award for the seventh time and his third World Series title. With the Dodgers making good strides, Mookie is all praise for their front office and the Japanese players he will play alongside.

The Dodgers’ star, Mookie Betts, has been quite vocal about his love for the club and its front office. During a recent podcast on February 2, Mookie Betts said, “Shout out to our front office for giving us the opportunity.” He even mentioned that it is not easy to get an opportunity to play in front of the fans, with the two teams, the Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs, and also the Japanese players like Shota Imanaga, Shohei Ohtani, and others. Mookie even has his say on Shohei Ohtani and his excitement to play alongside him while aiming for the World Series title, but that’s not all!

Mookie went on to say how he played with the Dodgers’ ace pitcher, Shohei Ohtani, by making a surprise appearance in Japan. Mookie Betts was the one to represent his MLB team there, and he was quite excited to be in the place of one of his favorite teammates. Perhaps this might be the reason why he got to know him both as a friend and player and wanted him to be in the Dodgers. Finally, after the 2023 season, Shohei Ohtani signed a massive deal with the Dodgers—a ten-year, $700 million contract. While he was unable to pitch while recovering from a second elbow injury, he made a great comeback, with an impressive.310 average, 54 home runs, 130 RBIs, and 1.036 OPS.

The Cubs eyeing the Dodgers’ right-handed ace

With the MLB season to begin soon, the Chicago Cubs have already made some good moves by signing their outfielder, Kyle Tucker, and reliever, Ryan Pressly. However, they are not very sure about relying too much on Shota Imanaga, who went 15-3 last season. Thus, the Cubs are looking to get a frontline starter, which could strengthen their rotation and increase their chances of making it to the playoffs. It looks like they are trying to get Jack Flaherty of the Dodgers, who had a great record in 2024.

The 29-year-old pitcher, Jack Flaherty, had posted a 3.17 ERA with 194 strikeouts in the 162 innings he played. He was one of the major contributors to the Dodgers, who led the team to win the World Series title. Considering the good financial flexibility that the Chicago Cubs currently possess, they could sign him, and that’s it! The Cubs could take advantage of using the trio of Shota Imanaga, Justin Steele, and Flaherty, which could bolster their lineup and their potential to win the championship title too.
