Aaron Judge has become well known for his tall stature and the powerful swing his body gives him. But many may not know that he used that height to dominate opponents in high school football. In 2017, Mark Miller, Judge’s football coach at Linden High School, opened up on how his height was unfair.
Per The Mercury News, Miller said, “He was 6-foot-6 and playing wide receiver. The other team would have some little 5-foot-nuthin’ cornerback trying to guard him. It should have been illegal, but it wasn’t.” In Linden, Judge’s height was a rarity, the total population of the small town being around 1800 strong. Furthermore, his height is a rarity in baseball in general.

When Judge won the 2022 AL MVP award, he became the tallest MVP in MLB history. Furthermore, he hasn’t allowed his height to become a disadvantage when fielding. In fact, Judge has shown an agility never seen before for a player his size. This tall stature may even help Judge in the new role he has been given.

Aaron Judge was recently named the newest captain of the New York Yankees. Although he has always shown a tendency to lead the team, actually performing the role will be a different ballgame. His 6’7” frame may help him exude the aura of a leader and generally feel more confident as captain.
