The Los Angeles Angels are about to lose their stars. Shohei Ohtani is out for the season with injuries and will almost certainly look for a new team come offseason. The Halos’ terrible stats in the last few years had to have frustrated Ohtani and Mike Trout. Unfortunately, the 3x AL MVP is dealing with an injury of his own.

After fracturing his left hamate on July 3, Trout has been out of the lineup. He returned for a single game that ended in tragedy when he had to return to the IL. Since then, there have been reports of the slugger wanting to sit down with his team to discuss the future. The Angels are ready to trade him if he wants, but there has yet to be an update. In the meantime, Trout is healing, or so the club says.

Mike Trout Will Travel for Road Games With Los Angeles Angels

Trout is out for the year because the fracture prevents him from picking up a bat. But Bally Sports West’s reporter Erica Weston recently provided what should be an encouraging update. “Mike Trout is going on the road with the Angels and will start swinging the bat soon.”

According to the Orange County Register, the slugger has been practicing dry swings but not much else. The Angels are firmly out of postseason contention with the recent loss to the Detroit Tigers. Once again, they are ending a season with much more losses than wins. Not to mention, for the eighth consecutive year. What good will having Trout back do now?

That is, if the injury update is even correct. The club has come under intense heat for hiding the true nature of third baseman Anthony Rendon’s injury. A few days ago, it was revealed that he had fractured his tibia but the Angels decided to not say anything.

What is the situation with Trout then? And for that matter Ohtani? Fans, in any case, are not impressed.

Anaheim Fans Seem to Have Given Up

When Shohei Ohtani’s locker was suddenly cleared out after Friday’s game against the Tigers, fans feared the worst. Then he was apparently spotted in Japan, leaving America in a frenzy of emotions. But 12 hours later, Ohtani was present in the Angels dugout. But amid all this bizarre confusion, one thing is certain.

Ohtani won’t play anymore this season, and likely neither will Trout. Even if the Angels say both players will be present in the last homestand. Fans are wondering what the point of having Trout play is now.

One referred to his recent increased golf activity.

Another referred to his personal golf project.

One couldn’t help but take a jab at the reporter.

Most simply didn’t care.
