Given his immense contribution to the game of baseball, Shohei Ohtani has become a towering figure in the MLB world. Knowing the kind of impact he has brought into America’s favorite pastime, Ohtani has become a household name in the MLB town. When it comes down to popularity in youth, there is no one around Ohtani in American sports. So much so that even Batman, Superman, and other superheroes are falling behind his popularity; at least this is what a young baseballer thinks.

Thinking about Superheroes brings the images of Superman, Batman, or Spiderman to children’s minds. The superhero characters perform unworldly activities to save the world that capture the minds of kids. But recently, Shohei Ohtani fans overflowed with joy when they heard a child player consider him his Superhero.

Even though superheroes are parts of fantasy series, fans end up idolizing these fictional characters. Motoi Oda, the 11-year-old Japanese pitcher, perfectly sums up this concept when he claims Ohtani as his superhero instead of a fictional character. Before their game with Chinese Taipei on August 21st, 2023, he chose the Los Angeles Angels two-way phenom as his superhero.

The 29-year-old baseball star originally hails from Japan. Before his MLB career started in 2018 with the Angels, the Japanese slugger used to be a part of the NPB. Oda’s choice revealed how baseball players look upon Ohtani in his home country. His accomplishments are more heroic than fictional Hollywood superheroes to young Japanese baseball players.

He is not wrong,” Fans Agree With the Young Pitcher

Considering Ohtani has become the face of the league, his immense popularity should not surprise anyone. Oda’s comment has made Ohtani’s fans overjoyed since it was aired.
