Justin Verlander’s Citi Field start didn’t go as planned. Model and actress Kate Upton was present at Verlander’s Citi Field debut, which didn’t go as planned. Verlander, who’s made nine All-Star appearances since his MLB debut in 2005, won two World Series rings, and three Cy Young awards, the most recent being in 2022, threw five innings, conceding six runs and eight hits with only three K’s.

Notably, Justin Verlander signed a two-year, $86.7 million contract with the Mets. That definitely added to the fan heat and frustration after the game, which definitely didn’t justify his whopping contract size.
