Mothers are a walking miracle. The journey of motherhood is an unmatched feat, one that deserves the utmost admiration and respect. From pregnancy to birth, mother put their bodies through an incredible transformation, creating and nurturing life in a way that is truly beautiful. One couple who knows the beauty and challenges of parenthood all too well is Hannah Davis and Derek Jeter. Notably, they welcomed their first child into the world in 2017.

But as many mothers can attest, pregnancy and childbirth can be fraught with complications, and Hannah suffered from one such harrowing experience. Just three weeks after giving birth, she experienced a life-threatening hemorrhage. Recalling the same, Derek recently expressed the fear he went through at the time.

Derek Jeter recalled the most harrowing moment of his life 

For Hannah and Derek Jeter, the birth of their first child was an occasion full of hope and the promise of a new journey – as Derek himself has mentioned that becoming a father was the best thing that has ever happened to him. However, in a moment recalled in the docuseries The Captain, the couple opened up about a terrifying experience they went through just three weeks after the birth. Hannah had a hemorrhage caused by a placenta accreta, a condition that doesn’t make itself known visibly after childbirth. 

Derek, who was at work during the time, frantically rushed home to find Hannah in a “really really bad” condition. She had to go undergo a three-hour surgery to remove the placenta. 

The next morning, as they sat in the hospital room, the gravity of the situation sunk in. As Derek recalled, “We really didn’t know how bad it was until the next morning. We stayed in the hospital and the next morning, a couple of doctors came in and one said we almost lost you and I’m like what?” His voice felt heavy and cracked, as he further recalled, “She almost, she almost… passed away.”

Moments like these can quake anyone to their core. However, it was also apparent that he stayed by her side through thick and thin as she recovered. And it seems like the two have emerged from the experience even stronger than before. 

Derek and Hannah fought their way back! 

Derek Jeter and Hannah Jeter went through something that cast a dark shadow over the light of their heart. However, they fought their way back and have since built an even more beautiful life together. 

Hannah has since then recovered fully and the couple has welcomed two more daughters into their happy and loving family.
