The New York Yankees are on the cusp of a season-ending loss, and the situation is going from bad to worse. They are already at the bottom of the AL East with very little chance of a comeback. Their hope for revival needed their best players to be available in the upcoming matches, which have now shattered due to the season-ending injury of their star catcher.

The Yankees have struggled with not just lousy performance but keeping their players fit to play. Their captain, Aaron Judge is on Injury List along with other good players like Josh Donaldson, Jake Bauers, and Willie Calhoun. The recent news of their star pitcher, Jose Trevino’s wrist surgery, has worsened the matter for the team. One question lingers: Will he miss the remainder of the season?

Like the Yankees, Jose Trevino also needed the remaining season to prove his worth and make a comeback. Already on the 10-day IL, the 30-year-old has sat out the last three games, resulting in a batting average of 0.210, along with 15 RBIs and four home runs. Now the season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist has jeopardized his comeback in the remainder of the season.

Per an Instagram post by mlbonfox, Trevino informed reporters that he will require season-ending wrist surgery following his placement on the IL by the Yankees. He anticipates returning for Spring Training in 2024.

According to MLB reporter Bryan Hoch, Trevino has been suffering from his wrist injury since Spring Training. The tweet read, “Jose Trevino needs season-ending wrist surgery. He said that his wrist has been an issue dating back to spring training. He thought he could play through the pain, but it has reached a point where he needs to get it fixed. Expects to be ready for spring training 2024.”

According to a tweet by Talkin’ Yanks, Jose Trevino also informed Bryan Hoch about his situation. The tweet quotes Trevino saying, “It’s very frustrating. I want to be out there. I want to play; I love to play.I love to catch, I love to wear pinstripes. There is nothing more I want to do than go out there and play, but at this point, I am not helping anybody.”

Since the news of Trevino’s wrist surgery has been out, fans have highlighted their concerns regarding the remaining season of the Yankees.
