Teams generally avoid making coaching changes mid-season. But the New York Yankees are primarily known for maintaining stability even during down years. However, the team has changed that mentality this season, with hiring a new hitting coach this mid-season. Most recently, fans went excited as the latest addition showed positive energy. 

The Yankees’ hitting has particularly struggled over the season, with the team choosing to press a panic button. Although the fans were not won over by the move initially, this recent display during a loss seems to have fostered a sense of positivity among supporters. 

New York Yankees fans show support for new hitting coach after his excited display

Batting struggles have plagued the Yankees as of late. The situation deteriorated so much that the team decided to let go of hitting coach Dillon Lawson. Shortly after, they announced the signing of Sean Casey to replace him. Although fans were not initially excited about the hire, his infectious energy while celebrating Giancarlo Stanton’s home run against the Colorado Rockies has got them fired up.

Talkin’ Yanks shared a video of it on Twitter that said, “Sean Casey’s reaction to the Stanton blast 😂”.

This was a massive display of support as he got excited about Stanton’s big hit. Although the star slugger has been struggling this year, the hit and Casey’s support will give him confidence. Fans were not only left impressed by Stanton’s hit but also with the excitement of the new hitting coach towards it.

Although expectations were not initially high, supporters are warming up to Casey. Some fans lauded him for his energy. While some mocked him for the latest ground-breaking loss against Rockies.

Other fans expressed excitement over the new coach. 

There were even fans that expressed hope for the future. 

This excitement didn’t last long the team faced with terrible results. The Yankees lost the game 7-2 despite Stanton’s big hit. Furthermore, with this loss they matched a record of over 30 years old. The subpar performance of the Yankees builds an immense pressure for the hitting coach. 

Sean Casey is under immense pressure

Sean Casey has yet to gain prior coaching experience. After a successful 12-year MLB career, he joined MLB Network as a broadcaster. Now, the Yankees have pulled in ‘The Mayor’ for a new role, hoping his experience and top-level batting will rub off. Furthermore, as the above video shows, he has an incredibly positive energy.

But Casey will be under immense pressure to help the Bombers turn things around. As a rookie coach, he will hit some bumps but seems to have the fans on his side now. It will be interesting to see if the hitting improves under his supervision.
