After fighting a rigorous battle with cancer, the former captain of the Oakland Athletics, who was part of the historic A’s team, leading them to three World Series titles, breathed his last on January 20, 2023.?

In the era of 70s repeat champs, Sal, aka Salvatore Leonard Bando-led, the Athletics to become the first team to win three consecutive World Series. Earlier last year, the Oakland Athletics inducted Sando into their Hall of Fame for his heroics shown in the 70s. In the 16 years of his career as a player in the big leagues, Bando played only two teams, Oakland Athletics and Milwaukee Brewers. His time with the Brewers may not have earned him his fourth World Series ring, but he took them to their first-ever postseason appearance in his last season in MLB.

The ex-athlete may have retired from the game after the 1981 season, but he did not leave baseball for a long time. He started as an assistant to the Brewers’ GM, Henry Dalton, in 1991. During which, he continued to be an analyst of the game.?
