There are not many players in Major League Baseball who start their rookie season with a bang. Houston Astros rookie, Jeremy Peña, is one of them. Peña plays as a shortstop for the Astros.
The 25-year-old player has had a tremendous rookie season. The season has earned the rookie the award of becoming the Most Valuable Player of the American League’s Championship Series. In his rookie year, the shortstop is going to be playing the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Peña’s team has swept up the New York Yankees in ALCS, and it would not be wrong to say that it wouldn’t have been possible, if Peña wasn’t there. The man did the hard work, the results came, and he got what he deserved for that. Ahead of the World Series, players of both teams got asked about their first baseball memory that they still remember.
What is Peña’s first baseball memory?
The rookie shortstop’s first baseball memory involves another shortstop. Born in the Dominican Republic, Peña’s memory of the game is from there only.

“On a baseball field, Dominican republic, I remember their shortstop did not have their glove, so he asked me to borrow mine, and the whole game was just switching gloves, and that’s my first memory,” said Peña.

That’s a memory that anyone might not forget, at least not easily. This would also be the memory that the other shortstop would also remember for a long time, if not forever.
How did Jeremy Peña help his team win the ALCS?
Big moments make big players, Jeremy Peña stepped up to the challenge with a three-run home drive in Game 4 of the ALCS, putting the Astros ahead. Peña went 3-for-4 in Game 1, 1-for-4 in Game 2, and 0 for 5 in Game 3. In the first game, his solo home shot came in the seventh inning, giving the Astros a 4-1 lead and plenty of cushion for the bullpen.
