This season, Aaron Judge is smashing every batting record in his way. Most noteworthy of those statistics is the home run count category. He is now tied with the legendary Roger Maris for the American League’s highest home run record.
Since making his MLB debut with the New York Yankees in 2016, Judge has proven to be a batting virtuoso. This year’s performances are the best reflection of his mighty hitting skills. He is also a front runner for the American League MVP Award this year, due to his exhilarating batting displays. Notably. Judge is a four-time All-Star player who won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 2017.

Judge is on track to enter his name above other legendary achievers in baseball history. He has already entered the list of the sport’s evergreen elite members. Amidst the home run frenzy, he has already surpassed many all-time greats. So while Judge got tied with Maris’ record, it’s the son of Maris who is consistently supporting Judge to carry on.
Is Aaron Judge better than the best?
Aaron Judge smashed his 61st home run of the season last week. And so, he tied the American League seasonal best homer score with Roger Maris. But since then, his historical record-breaking home run is still nowhere to be seen. However, Roger Maris Jr., the son of Roger Maris, firmly believes Judge can still create a new high.
Back in 1961, Yankees’ iconic slugger, Maris set an MLB overall seasonal record of 61 home runs, surpassing legend Babe Ruth. From there on, Maris’ record already got broken multiple times, but by National League batters on each occasion. The most noteworthy of all those milestones was Barry Bonds’ 73 home runs in 2001. Bonds’ record still remains a mountainous climb for the batters of both leagues in MLB.
Barry Bonds is the best baseball player ever. What Bonds did in 2001 was the most dominate hitting performance ever. I know Bonds is the single season home run champ (73) based on the CURRENT record books. Home run records have been SEPARATED before … I like Judge better!!

However, Maris Jr. thinks it perfectly suits Judge to fly past Bonds’ record. Maris Jr. has always remained critical of Bonds due to the steroid scandal. According to Maris Jr., his father’s home run record is genuine and legitimate, unlike Bonds’. Therefore, persisting with his fondness towards Judge, Maris Jr. recently compared Bonds’ achievement with a twist.

Posting on Twitter, Maris Jr. wrote, “Barry Bonds is the best baseball player ever. What Bonds did in 2001 was the most dominate hitting performance ever. I know Bonds is the single season home run champ (73) based on the current record books. Home run records have been separated before. I like Judge better!”
Can Judge reach the MLB home run best?
Judge is still searching for his 62nd home run slam for over a week. The opponents have been pitching wisely to him. However, as proof stands, Judge will, probably, soon find a way to break through. And with it, he’ll put his name in the MLB history books forever.
